At the beginning of September this year, Manuela Gerber, who is responsible for 
organic products at PPO Services AG, traveled to southern Spain for a week to visit several organic suppliers in person.

The trip began in Alicante and ended in Seville.

One of the biggest challenges for the organic team is to maintain a sufficient personal presence in all growing regions across this vast production area and to acquire in-depth knowledge of the entire product range, from salads to exotic fruits.

Personal exchanges with local business partners are essential for maintaining stable business relationships and successfully expanding the business.

Visiting the site not only gives us a direct impression of the plantations and fields, but also a better understanding of the processes in the office and packing house premises. This helps us to better understand and ensure the quality and efficiency of the processes.

Regular exchange is essential for long-term and trusting cooperation. New collaborations are also reviewed and evaluated during such trips.

In the organic sector in particular, checking compliance with organic guidelines and transparent documentation of the supply chain are crucial for business success.

Thanks to this trip, we were able to further strengthen existing partnerships, conclude seasonal contracts, and identify promising new suppliers.
